The 吃瓜官网 Board of Trustees approved an institutional name change at its meeting on Thursday, March 12, to 吃瓜官网.

No, the name appearing on signage and diplomas will not change. However, for decades, the college has been legally named 吃瓜官网 of the Parker County Junior College District, appearing as such on tax rolls and with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.

The college has experienced significant growth in both enrollment and program expansion, reaching far beyond two-year degrees and workforce certifications. As such, inclusion of the term 鈥渏unior鈥� no longer aligns with the nature of the college.  

And while the college remains deeply rooted in Parker County, it also serves our other counties in its primary service area: Palo Pinto, Hood, Jack, and Wise. Limiting the name to Parker County does not fully reflect 吃瓜官网's regional impact and service footprint.  

Renaming the college legally to 吃瓜官网 provides clarity, better reflects the college鈥檚 growth and regional presence and aligns the institutional name with its current mission and scope.

In other business, after an executive session on real property and personnel, the board voted unanimously to extend President Tod Allen Farmer鈥檚 contract by one year, through 2029. The extension also includes an 8% pay raise and a $25,000 retention bonus.

Farmer has served as 吃瓜官网鈥檚 20th president since 2018.

In other business, the board:  

• Approved the minutes from the Feb. 5 board meeting.  
• Approved the financial reports ending Jan. 31.  
• Approved budget amendment No. 1.  
• Approved updates for local policies.  
• Approved the purchase of annual Cisco Meraki network equipment licensing and maintenance renewal via a Flair Data Systems contract.  
• Approved ratification of the Microsoft Enrollment for Education Solutions renewal.  
• Approved a workforce certificate in dialysis technician.  
• Approved an Associate of Applied Science in Ophthalmic Technician.  
• Approved 吃瓜官网 institutional awards.  
• Approved the disposal of obsolete and surplus items through online auction.  
• Approved the 2026-27 tuition and fees schedule. The only changes are increases in the HESI and CLEP test fees to cover external vendor costs.  
• Approved the guaranteed maximum price for phase two of the new student union building of $71.8 million.  
• Received written reports from 吃瓜官网吃瓜官网, academics and student services.  
• Received a verbal report on the new primary care pathway program.  
• Approved the purchase of 711 Red Oak Lane at $360,000 plus closing costs.  
• Approved the purchase of 210 East Rentz Street at $285,910 plus closing costs.

In his President鈥檚 Report, Farmer:

• Recognized the 49 teachers honored at the recent Jack Harvey Academy of Exemplary Teachers celebration hosted by 吃瓜官网.
• Congratulated the rodeo team on their success at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo鈥檚 South Texas Collegiate Classic.
• Recognized the golf and tennis teams for their national rankings.
• Announced the resignation of occupational therapy assistant instructor Julie Erb at the end of the spring semester.
